3d

Packages!

My first 3d package was 'Imagine' on the Amiga, moving on to Lightwave as I began to work on games. From there I began to use 3DS MAX, which I used for most of my time at Creative Digital Assembly. At Foxkids we used Lightwave, although I sometimes used 3D Studio if working remotely. I learnt Maya whilst at Shroom to use on film productions such as Signal2noise and whilst collaborating with Shynola. I currently mainly use Blender, an open source package with compositing and sculpting features and switch to other packages when necessary.I also like to use simple sketching applications such as'Teddy' and import these models to animate them.

Techniques.

I like to use 3D packages as though they were more like photoshop; layers give depth and a different kind of focus to work. It is also not possible to either film or create these kinds of images in any other way. Below are two examples of the extremes of 3d; one is plain and simple, representative of what something is, the other is complex and deep, more suggestive of what something could be.
