Christian Krupa adopts a unique approach to image making, working directly with materials of graphic films for over a decade telling stories that the camera cannot. The combination of his skills in visual effects and animation allows him to forge a style bridging compelling storytelling with subversive graphical imagery, highlighting the beauty of technical filmmaking.

A thoughtful approach coupled with a strong visual imagination allows him to make the impossible film-able, with provocative results. He has worked in a variety of disciplines, from VFX supervisor in feature production, busy TV studio work producing programme promos for Fox Kids and co-directing a bespoke animation house, Shroomstudio in London. As well as co- founding the studio Christian’s work here ranged from documentary filmmaking, promo and advertising production to art collaborations, live performances at the V&A and producing visuals for U2, Rolling Stones and Pink tours.

Since leaving in 2007 he has worked extensively on BBC productions animating and directing sequences and titles. 2008 has seen him developing and directing an animated documentary series with BBC vision as well as developing short films such as an adaptation of Jeff Noon's story Stigmatica. Christian aspires to develop the techniques he uses in long form pieces for both drama and documentary, whilst continuing to work on quick turnaround projects with freedom of expression, such as music promo and visuals.
