This page has clips from two separate projects with the theme of the Bard., The first two clips relate to 'In Search of Shakespeare', the third is a pilot for a series of readings of the Sonnets I animated at Creative Digital Assembly with Illuminations Film and Dave Mckean in the year 2000.
This is the title sequence for In Search of Shakespeare. I designed it to fit with the branding for the book that accompanied the series and animated it using Blender, Lightwave and After Effects. Lighting was achieved using footage of candles and sealing wax treated and edited to maximise the impact of the central movement.
The second clip (above) was made to represent the 'Dark Lady', Shakespeare's secret lover. The symbols which surround her are taken from the only documentation to exist of her; an astrological reading by Simon Foreman, a renowned mage of the time.
The clip above is of a reading of 'Sonnet 138' animated in 3DS MAX using footage of an actor reading the poem; the face is a texture map of this, the character is animated to a reference tape provided by the director, Dave Mckean. It was done for Illuminations film as a pilot for a series of each of the sonnets.
